Chris Okibi is an innovative and unconventional producer, DJ and live performance artist. Brought up in the eclectic drum & bass, hardcore punk and hip-hop sub-cultures of the Pacific Northwest, Okibi has firmly established himself in the growing bass music scene, sharing the stage with artists such as Distal, 12th Planet, Downlink, Noah D and Alix Perez.

Okibi brings a diverse selection of styles to every DJ set, from forward-thinking juke, funky and midtempo, to rolling liquid riddims, dubwise exclusives and grimey dubstep. Steeped in the hip-hop tradition, Okibi utilizes scratching and turntablism techniques, effects and MIDI controllers in the mix, creating a unique and eclectic soundscape.

Okibi’s left-field productions continue to push the envelope within the evolving bass music scene. Drawing influences from everything from gangster rap to disco, Okibi has spearheaded his own unique clubgaze sound. In late 2006, he founded Union Sound System, a steadily growing network of avant-garde artists. Involved in a number of projects, including the live p.a. electro-punk stylings of AUTOMATON, Okibi stays true to old-school roots while pioneering future vibes.
